Intel and Micron announce fast NAND flash chips

Two major companies have announced their collaboration product - flash chips NAND, five times the speed of which exceeds that of existing analog.

news_13676_1Cooperation began in November 2005, the products of collaboration are now available for Apple's various iPod players. Under the agreement, the supply will last until at least 2010. The joint venture called IM Flash Technologies. Elementary chip produced by this technology has a storage capacity of 8 gigabits, the reading speed of 200 MByte / s write speed - 100 MB / s.

The representative of the company said that with today's consumer needs of the demand for chips is growing steadily, and demand growth rate has become more pressing. To raise the rate of enterprise IM has completely redesigned the chip architecture.

news_13676_2The mass production of chips of the new model will begin approximately the second half of the year. They fully comply with specifications of the standard Open NAND Flash Interface second version. According to this specification, the read data should be above 133 MB / s. The third version will be discussed on the rates of 400 MByte / s.

How does it work together with any new technology, the new chips will only be used in electronic devices for high-end. However, their prices are more than reasonable, therefore, in a fairly short time available to grow rapidly.
